Snowboarding in the Austrian Alps.... or London

With the ‘beast from the east’ on its way, we were assured a wonderful snowboarding trip to Skiwelt in the Austrian Alps…think again!

The beast most certainly put a spanner in the works, dumping 10cm + of snow the day before causing  our flight to get cancelled about 8 hrs before we were meant to leave.

After much indecision and research we decided to go so booked random flights to Memmingen, Germany. Having already lost about 6 hours out of our trip and still not arriving where we needed to be, we researched a bus to get us to Munich (where we had booked a hire car from), arrived 11pm, stayed in a really dodgy hotel (but went out and ate far too much potato and pork…yummy), woke up early to catch a train to the airport, picked up our hire car and drove to ski mountain, to get 2 hrs of snowboarding in for the day.

Exhausted after our all our travel and snowboarding we check into our accommodation, and had an amazing Austrian dinner at our hotel.... YUMM!

The next day we got up early and boarded for 6 hours before having to do all the travel again (in reverse). Though despite all this we found a truely amazing mountain that was so big we didn't even scratch the surface and had a great day and a half boarding in the sun.

Definitely a whirlwind! And the irony of it all… the mountain hadn’t had any fresh snow in a few days!
