Norway - Bergen to Oslo and a lesson in being flexible and adaptive

We spent 3 days doing the well documented Bergen to Oslo drive and well it was pretty stunning. Lots of fiords, excessively long tunnel roads and Chris fell in love with one particular bridge... imagine emerging from one long tunnel to find yourself on a 1km super high bridge over a stunning water way only to go back into another tunnel on the other side!

Apart from falling in love with too many clothes and subsequently spending far too much money, we did have a particularly wild experience. We had booked a cute cottage in the middle of basically nowhere around the half way point in the drive, the Airbnb hosts had messaged us to say we may need snow shoes and that we could borrow one pair picking them up from out the front of a random house some 10 mins away... snow shoes... what even are they... we don’t need snow shoes we thought.

We arrived at the car park near the cottage, bravely layered up, put our backpacks on and started the 1km walk toward the cottage, first step on the snow... legs buried! We are talking waist deep super soft snow... next minute we are diving down the road to get the 1 pair of snow shoes.

There we were again battling the snow, amazingly we managed to get buried and dig ourselves out on repeat for some 300m, only to realise it would take us some hours to get to the cottage. We were now saturated and our legs beginning to feel like frost bite was on the horizon ... we turned back and rang around hotels till we found one that was even open for the season....what an adventure.
