Santander - not just a port town or a bank
Starting off our ‘August is the month of Spain’ adventures we booked 48 hrs away in Santander. We use the excuse of celebrating 11 years of love for each other to justify spending the weekend in a rather swanky suite overlooking the water, drinking too much wine, and indulging in all the seafood, cheese, meats and gelato one could want.
Brits didn’t seem to see Santander as a holiday destination, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect but as it turns out our random late night booking of Santander turned out to be a winner. Not a 20min walk out of town was stretches of amazing beach with fine white sand and warm crystal clear waters. We discovered a brilliant little cove and maximised time soaking up rays and hanging out in the water. Interestingly, English wasn’t huge common in Santander and we didn’t see too many tourists - definitely our kind of place!
